Julia Aguilar, GSE Program Director in Granada
Hi, I’m Julia Aguilar, your GSE program director in Granada, Spain. I’m really looking forward to hanging out with you and taking you to all the cool places here in Granada and other parts of Andalusia and Spain.
Because I was born and raised in Granada, I can show you all the best places to go and all the coolest things to see and do; the hidden treasures of the city that only the locals know about.
I’ve been running study abroad programs for over 5 years and I absolutely love it. I really have a great time, and I know you will, too.
As far as my education goes, I earned my Bachelor’s in Educational Psychology at the University of Granada, the same university where you’ll be learning Spanish.
In 2002 I moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa to pursue a degree in Mental Health Counseling. In 2006 I received my Masters from the University of Northern Iowa. And as an NBCC certified counselor, I’m uniquely qualified to help you overcome the challenges of living in a foreign country.
After I graduated, GSE offered me the job of Onsite Program Director in Barcelona, Spain. I directed the program in Barcelona for 2 years. Then, in 2008, we (GSE) decided to open up a study abroad program in Granada, too. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to move back to my home town.
There’s something almost magical about Granada. There’s no other place like it on Earth. I can’t wait for you to come and experience it with me. See you soon!
