Spaniards are usually pretty punctual, especially for work and school. If you have plans to get together with Spaniards, 5 minutes late is considered “on time”. You can probably get away with being 10 minutes late. However, if you’re going to be more than 10 minutes late you should call and let them know. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without a phone call is considered quite rude. If you happen to arrive late for class, it’s polite to apologize to the professor by saying “Lo siento mucho” and to quickly take your seat. Arriving late multiple times is considered rude.
