A GSE apartment

In the States, most houses have carpet. To keep from dirtying the carpet we take our shoes off in the entryway. In Spain, it’s just too darn hot for carpet. Floors are usually either wood or tile. So, we either keep our shoes on or put on slippers. It’s considered bad manners to walk barefoot or with just socks on.

When entering your home, common courtesy is to say hello to the people who are there, even if you have to go out of your way. Likewise, when leaving, the proper thing to do is to say “Hasta luego” to everyone.
